Blacka Group: Support Services Oast House Manchester
If you have ever visited Manchester’s Spinningfields on a summer afternoon, you’re probably very familiar with the Oast House. Erected in 2011, the Tudor style building, originally designed as a temporary structure, has now become a permanent and iconic city fixture.
Nine years ago we were asked by Tim Bacon from Living Ventures and Steve Walter of Genre Music to design and install a sound system for the venue. We were instructed that the bar would host regular live music events, so the focus was to create a robust sound system, that could accurately reproduce both live and recorded music to a very high standard, whilst providing easy connectivity for bands & DJs to plug directly into the system.
The final solution included eight mid-high speakers with two bass bins, all powered by QSC amps. We also supplied an Allen and Heath live mixing desk & installed a series of external connectivity points.
We still work very closely with the team at the Oast House, providing live performance stages and music production services for annual events such as the Spinfest festival & the Christmas Teepee’s.
Nine years later the installation is still running beautifully. Today we provided an annual service for Oast House.
